Chennaiyin FC Eye Home Advantage
Strong title contender Chennaiyin FC would be hoping to cash in on home advantage when they take on defending champions Athletico de Kolkata in the inaugural match of the second season of Indian Super League. The home team’s star mid-fielder and golden boot winner last year with nine goals, Elano Blumer of Brazil would play a significant role in determining Chennaiyin’s fortunes this year as well. The icing on the cake for Chennaiyin turned out to be the signings of Ethiopian striker Fikru and Cameroon’s goalkeeper Apoula Edima Edel Bete, both of whom migrating from Ahteltico de Kolkata. Ganguly to Miss Opener
Sourav Ganguly will not be able to attend Atletico de Kolkata’s opening match as he will be travelling to Mumbai for BCCI’s special general meeting. Former BCCI president Shashank Manohar is widely expected to be elected as the next chief in the Board SGM which has been called after the demise of Dalmiya who passed away in Kolkata on September 20. Atletico de Kolkata’s coach Antonio Lopez says he wants his side to collectively play well as a team to win the Indian Super League trophy again. Habas also added that the league is short and if one makes mistakes it will be difficult to recover, also sounding confident of going into their season opener against Chennaiyin FC. (Read More)
