Indrani Mukerjea Complains of Chest Pain, Rushed to Hospital

Indrani Mukerjea allegedly killed her daughter Sheena Bora in April 2012

Mumbai:  Indrani Mukerjea, arrested for allegedly killing her daughter Sheena Bora in 2012, has been rushed to a hospital in Mumbai after she complained of chest pain.

Ms Mukerjea, 43, was arrested in August. She is currently in judicial custody.

The murder case of Sheena Bora is currently being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The CBI was handed over the case late last month by the Maharashtra government.

Ms Bora, 24, was killed allegedly by her mother, step-father Sanjeev Khanna, and a driver inside a car in April 2012, in Mumbai.

The trio has been accused by the Mumbai Police of hatching a criminal conspiracy to murder Sheena Bora, abducting and murdering her and disposing of her half-burnt body in a forest in Raigad.

In a surprise move, the Maharashtra government last month decided to hand over the probe to the CBI after nearly a month of controversies, allegations and counter-allegations on the role of former city police commissioner Rakesh Maria, who was suddenly promoted as Director General of Police.

The state government’s decision followed a case status report submitted by DGP Sanjeev Dayal, which averred that the case had many implications beyond the murder – the motive of which is still not clear – including property and financial angles.
