Virender Sehwag Recounts Childhood Advice: Don"t Hunt For Autographs, Give Them

Virender Sehwag has been an entertainer over the years and he has entertained the world with the power of his willow. Even with the microphone, Sehwag enchanted his fans on the stage of a singing talent show — Indian Idol Junior. (Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s Upcoming Biopic Excites Irfan Pathan)


Sehwag appeared as a celebrity judge on the singing reality show and boosted the junior contestants with his words of inspiration.


“Talent alone is not enough”, said Sehwag to the kids, “how you utilise that talent through hard work counts in the long run.” (Irfan Pathan Ready for Debut in Reality Television Dance Show)


Sehwag, recounting his days in the Indian cricket team said that it was Sachin Tendulkar who got him hooked to the beautiful melodies of the great Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar.


The 36-year-old India superstar got emotional while talking about his father, “My father said that he will quit smoking when I score a hundred for India but he never did.”


The Delhi batsman spoke candidly to the contestants and even narrated a story from his childhood.


“I was a ball boy in the Feroz Shah Kotla ground and was adjusting the sight screen during a match where Tendulkar is playing”, said Sehwag, “obviously, I was excited to get his autograph but an old groundsman told me that don’t hunt for autographs, instead do something that will make people run after your autograph.”


Not only Sehwag, his entire family is a fan of the show and his wife and two kids also sent a video message encouraging the participants.
