Matthew Hayden Likely to Train Uttar Pradesh Cricketers

Kanpur: In a bid to hone the skills of young state players, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has expressed its keenness to rope in former Australia opener Matthew Hayden for a short training stint.


After former India medium-pacer Venkatesh Prasad failed to inspire UP in the Ranji season gone by, when the team lost more matches than they won, the state association is looking at foreign help after employing former batsman Rizwan Shamshad as its chief coach.(All the Latest Cricket Updates)


UPCA CEO Lalit Khanna on Tuesday informed PTI Bhasha that the they are in talks with the left-handed batsman and Hayden is eager to join the UP youngsters. But Hayden has only three days to spare for the training camp, in which he is ready to coach the Under-23 and U-19 players.


Khanna informed that the talks with Hayden are in the final stages and only the the Australian’s remuneration is to be decided.


Hayden is expected to join the young UP players at the end of October or the start of November.
